430. Thomas Blower (bp. 1587–by 1639)
Thomas Blower was baptized on 23 April 1587 in Stanstead, England. [1, 77–78] He died by 9 Sepember 1639. [2] He married Alice Frost on 19 November 1612 in Stanstead. [1, 77–78]
431. Alice Frost (bp. 1594)
Alice Frost was baptized on 1 Decemer 1594 in Stanstead. [1, 85] She probably married second William Tilly soon after 6 July 1640 in Barnstable. [2]
Alice's father refers to Alice as the wife of Thomas Blower in his will. [1, 85] Thomas and Alice moved to Sudbury two or three years after their marriage and lived their for at least 15 years. In 1633 Alice had a dispute with the church and was charged with Contempt of Ecclesiastical Laws and fined a ruinous 100 pounds. Thomas and Alice fled to London to appeal the case and it was dismissed on 26 June 1634. [1, 77–78] In September 1635 Thomas and Alice sailed to New England on the Truelove. She married Richard Brackett. iii. Joshua Blower was baptized on 15 December 1621 in All Saints. He was buried on 22 March 1623/4. iv. Thomas Blower was baptized on 29 February 1623/4 in All Saints. He was buried on 25 April 1625 in All Saints. v. Mary Blower was baptized on 13 February 1625/6. She was buried on 1639/40 in All Saints. vi. John Blower was baptized on 23 March 1627/8. He died after 9 September 1675. He married Tabitha Unknown. John is almost certainly the John Blower who is on a 1643 list of those able to bear arms in Barnstable. John was in Boston in 1650. He was a cooper and a slave owner. He made his will on 9 Septemer 1675. vi. Thomas Blower was baptized on 16 May 1630 in All Saints. There is no further record of him. vii. Pyam Blower was born about 1638. He died on 1 June 1709 in Cambridge. He married Elizabeth Belcher on 31 March 1668. |
The English Ancestry of Thomas Blower THOMAS BLOWER made his will on 28 September 1597. He probably died the next day and was buried on 1 October 1597 in Lavenham, Suffolk. He married first Alice Sparpointe on 10 August 1574. She died in 1581. He married second Susan Vincent on 27 February 1581/2. [1, 81–81] SUSAN VINCENT (Andrew, Nicholas, Andrew) was born about 1560. He was a tanner of Lavenham. [1, 81–81] Probably all of Thomas's children except the last were baptized in Stanstead. [1, 81–81] Children of Thomas Blower and Alice Sparpointe: [1, 81–81] i. Thomas Blower was baptized on 10 October 1576. He was buried on 20 October 1576. Children of Thomas Blower and Susan Vincent: v. Joshua Blower was baptized on 16 December 1582. He died young. ANDREW VINCENT (Nicolas, Andrew) of Bidleston was probably born between 1520 and 1530. He was buried on 5 December 1580. He married Alice Unknown. [1, 89–90] Andrew made his will on 3 December 1580; he owned a fair amount of property. His children were probably all born in Bidleston. [1, 89–90] Children of Andrew Vincent. [1, 89–90] i. Andrew Vincent died young. NICHOLAS VINCENT (Andrew) of Bidleston was probably born about 1494/7 in or near Bidleston. He died between 12 November 1553, when he made his will, and 12 March 1553/4, when it was proved. He married Agnes Unknown. [1, 97–98] Nicholas was a substantial yeoman farmer. [1, 97–98] Nicholas had a son Andrew; daughters Agnes, Elizabeth and Alice, born after 1532; a son Andrew, above. [1, 97–98] ANDREW VINCENT lived in Bidleston. He had a son Nicholas, above, and three daughters: one who was probably born in 1490/5, died before 1521/2 and married Thomas Chaplin; one who perhaps married Unknown Burke; one who married William Byrch. 56. JOHN STRUTT was probably born in the mid-1400s. He was of Glemsford and he made his will on 12 September 1516. He mentioned his wife Isabelle (Elizabeth); his sons Thomas, John and Robert; he dauther Elizabeth, wife of Thomas Ellis; his daughters Katherine and Margery; the daughters of his daughter Alice Bigg. His wife made her will on 22 September 1526. She mentioned her son Thomas and her daughter Elizabeth Ellis. [1, 115] | ||

8. WILLIAM FROST was probably born about 1495/1500. He died in the summer of 1549. He married Philippa Unknown. She was probably born after 1508. She was buried on 20 January 1577/8 in Lidgate. She married second John Webb of Lidgate on 15 September 1552. He was buried on 25 July 1558 in Lidgate. He had a previous wife Rose, who was buried on 11 February 1551/2 in Lidgate. Philippa and John had a daughter Anna, baptized in 1553. [1, 99–100] In his will of 5 July 1549, William of Glemsford refers to his eldest son Roger, his son Henry, his middle son John, his younger son John, his daughters Audrey and Jane, and unnamed daughter and his wile Philippa. 10. RICHARD SCOTT was probably born about 1510, presumably in Glemsford. He married first Joanna Unknown. She was buried on 23 August 1556. He married second as (apparently) her third husband Joan Tollington (Tollerton) on 5 October 1556. Joan was the widow of Christopher Tollington. She married (apparently) fourth Thomas Hayward on 26 September 1565. [1, 101] Richard Scott, clothier of Glemsford, made his will on 7 February 1564/5. He mentioned his wife Joan, his eldest son John, his sons Edward and Richard, his son-in-laws Thomas Warren, John Frost and William Lellye and his two youngest daughters Margaret and Elizabeth. [1, 101] Childlren of Richard and Joanna Scott, born in Glemsford: [1, 101–2] i. John Scott was burieds on 25 May 1578. He married first Ann Strutt on 6 October 1560. Dorothy Scott (twin) was baptized on 25 January 1557. She died by 1564. |
14. JOHN STRUTT was buried on 22 April 1591. He married first Catherine Unknown. She was buried on 18 August 1578 in Glemsford. He married second Julian Scott, the daughter of of Richard Scott, yeoman of Fynstead, Glemsford. She married second the widower Ambrose Biggs on 30 June 1591 in Glemsford. Ambrose was buried on 9 May 1621 in Glemsford. [1, 103–5] John Strutt, yeoman of Glemsford, made his will on 19 April 1591. He mentioned his wife Julian, his daughter Anne, his nephew [grandchild] Thomas Belgrave, the children of his deceased daughter Joan Belgrave, his sister Ursula Brewster. He named his wife Thomasine; his son William; his four daughters—Elizabeth, the wife of Henry Rice, Anne, the wife of Laurence Collin, Alice, the wife of Thomas Blower, Mary Frost and Thomasine Frost; Edward Rice, the son of his daughter Elizabeth.
